Qobu city of Azerbaijan

Although Qobu is one of the ancient villages of Absheron, its history is little studied. Historian Sara Ashurbeyli wrote in her research that Qobu village was founded about 700 years ago. The name of this settlement means "slope, valley with a temporary watercourse, plain". Qobu is surrounded on all sides by the Shuban mountains.

It is shown here that the village of Qobu is located at the foot of the Shubany Mountains and is 15 versts (about 16 kilometers) from the city of Baku, the governorate city.

Healing water called "Pil-pila" comes out near Qobu cemetery. Gobo has a pier "Forty girls". The rocks are arranged in such a way that it looks like forty people are lined up in a row. Every Friday, the sound of a woman moaning comes from these rocks. There is a place called "Travel bridge" on the Qobu-Lokbatan road. Qobulu named Safar built a bridge on the road to pass the flood waters.

Films such as "The Wind Blows in Baku", "I'm Going to the Volcano", and "Guest" were shot in this town.

There is an ancient cemetery in the village, some of the stones taken from there are now stored in the caravanserai in Icherisheher. The inscriptions on the stones are written in broken script.

Qobu carpet has always been known in Azerbaijan due to its variety and texture. Here, the carpet is woven with threads made of camel wool, dyed with natural herbs. In the past, Qobu carpets were even sold abroad. Currently, Qobulis are engaged in this art. There are a number of characteristics that distinguish the Qobuls from the population of other villages of Absheron. The main distinguishing feature is the difference in the spoken dialect, which belongs only to the Qobuls in Absheron.
